It’s almost time for the Breakout Youth Development Worker Michael to start his 79 days of abstinence from meat, fish and sugary treats to raise awareness of the lack of LGBTQ rights in 79 countries around the world.

Michael has been reflecting upon his upcoming challenge:

“IImage of Michaelt’s only a couple of days before my abstinence challenge begins and I have started to mentally prepare myself, as well as make sure that I eat all the things that I really enjoy this week. I must admit I may have made a trip to KFC to eat every type of chicken before the challenge starts!

The sudden realisation that my eating habits are very orientated on snacks, such as sausage rolls and pork pies, has now hit me. Not only am I having to think about what I can replace meat, fish and sugary treats with, but it has also highlighted my unhealthy eating habits.

Preparing for the challenge this week has also made me very aware of how hard life must be for LGBTQ people around the world who can’t be true to who they are as a result of laws against homosexuality. The longing I may start to feel for chocolate is really nothing in comparison to the longing that LGBTQ people must feel to openly express who they are without the fear of persecution, imprisonment, or even worse, death. It is these thoughts that will keep me going throughout the challenge.

As well as mentally preparing myself, I have also consulted with a medical professional to make sure that the drastic change of diet is not going to have any effect ativan https://ativanusa.com/ healthcare ativan on my physical health. I was happy to know that I should be fine, so I guess there is only one thing left to do and that is to start!”

Michael is abstaining from meat, fish and sugary treats in a bid to raise awareness of the lack of LGBTQ rights around the world. In doing so, Michael is also raising money for Breakout Youth, a charity that supports LGBTQ young people in Southampton, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight by helping the young people to build their confidence and accept who they are.
